6 tips to combat pollen allergies

Pollen allergies can make spring a difficult time for many sensitive people. With the arrival of April, allergy symptoms can worsen, but there are simple steps you can take to reduce your exposure to pollen and mitigate allergic reactions. Here are 6 tips to help you get through this allergy season.

  1. At home :
  • Rinse hair at night:
Pollen is often deposited in large quantities on hair throughout the day. By rinsing your hair in the evening before going to bed, you effectively eliminate accumulated pollen, reducing the risk of it coming into contact with your face and pillow during the night.
  • Open windows at strategic times:
To minimize exposure to pollen inside your home, we recommend opening windows before sunrise and after sunset. These periods are less conducive to the dispersion of pollen in the air, which can help maintain a healthier indoor environment.
  • Avoid irritants in indoor air :
In addition to pollen, other irritants and allergens present indoors can aggravate allergic symptoms. Avoid exposure to tobacco, chemical cleaning products, home fragrances and incense, all of which can trigger allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.

  1. Outdoors :
  • Find out about pollen alerts:
Before setting off for a walk in the countryside, check the pollen alerts issued by the French National Aerobiological Monitoring Network (RNSA). This information will enable you to plan your activities according to the pollen levels in the air.
  • Avoid risky outdoor activities:
When pollen levels are high, limit your exposure by avoiding outdoor activities that lead to over-exposure to pollens, such as lawn mowing, garden maintenance, or sporting activities. If necessary, choose the end of the day for these activities, and wear protective goggles and a mask.
  • Extra precautions in the car :
When traveling by car during allergy season, keep the windows closed to prevent pollen from entering the vehicle. Pay particular attention to the recommendations in the event of air pollution peaks.

By following these simple but effective tips, you can reduce your exposure to pollen and alleviate allergic symptoms, allowing you to enjoy spring in peace. We also invite you to discover our Air Optimizer product, designed to eliminate allergens such as dust mites, pollen and pet hair.
