We’re proud to announce a major sustainability milestone at Probiotic Group: our Formulation and Quality teams have renewed our EU Ecolabel-certified solutions, while adding two revolutionary probiotic hard surface cleaners to the Provilan Clean range.
Certification highlights
This achievement brings the Provilan Clean range to four officially certified products, all validated by Luxembourg’s Administration de l’environnement:
- Provilan Clean Descaler – LU/020/005
- Provilan Clean Toilet Cleaner – LU/020/006
- Provilan Clean Floor Cleaner – LU/020/007
- Provilan Clean Universal Cleaner – LU/020/008
These concentrates (1% dilution rate) combine probiotic technology for lasting effectiveness with strict environmental standards.
EU Ecolabel explained
The EU Ecolabel for hard surface detergents is a voluntary Type I ecolabel governed by Regulation (EC) No. 66/2010, aimed at multi-purpose, kitchen, window and sanitary cleaners with a reduced environmental impact over their entire life cycle. Defined by Commission Decision (EU) 2017/1217, it imposes criteria on toxicity, biodegradability, resource efficiency and packaging.
Key requirements include:
- Limits on toxicity to aquatic organisms via critical dilution volume (CDV) for regular/occasional use.
- All surfactants must be readily aerobically biodegradable and not classified as hazardous to the aquatic environment; organic content is limited.
- Bans or restrictions on certain hazardous substances such as preservatives, fragrances, specific dyes and substances of very high concern.library
