The frequent use of antibiotics or chemical disinfectants in the environment can disrupt microbial balances and is currently the subject of extensive scientific research, particularly regarding the development of bacterial resistance and the effects on skin and environmental microbiomes.

The topical application of probiotics is distinguished by its non-invasive approach, which aims to help maintain the natural microbial balance. Instead of destroying all bacteria, this method aims to promote the growth of beneficial bacteria in order to help maintain the balance of the animal’s skin environment.
